In Language Arts, we've read a book. The book is called, "The Giver". The society of this book is different than outside world, they don't have color or music, not even love! Jonas, the main character, was appointed a job called the receiver. His job was to receive memories from the giver. Which Jonas had learned colors, music, and love from the memories. He wants to change his society to have those elements but he know he is too powerless, which he decided to leave with Gabriel, a boy if Jonas doesn't take him, he will get killed, to find "elsewhere". In the almost end of this book, Jonas and a little boy with him called Gabriel have left their peaceful community to find elsewhere. On the road to elsewhere, they've faced lots of challenges like rainy whether, being in a desert having no water, and snowy whether. When they feel very very cold, they think they've heard about music, but maybe it was just an echo......... That was the end of the giver...no copying no copying no copying no copying no copying no copying no copying no copying
From my point of view, I think Jonas is dead also does Gabriel. I think they are dead at the end because even though they think they’ve heard music and see the family celebrating love. It’s because when people are almost dead, they have their “sudden dream come true” feelings. That’s why Jonas visualized his dream. So the music and the actions are not necessary true. Also the author ends the story in “maybe it’s just an echo”. Which the author is telling that they are dead but before they are dead, they see their dream world. no copying no copying no copying no copying no copying

You mention some strong arguments for your interpretation that the characters die. Maybe you could read over your post if you have time and correct little grammar errors. It is so good in terms of content, it is a shame to weaken it with errors!
