Paul Bäumer in "All Quiet on the Western Front"

Paul Bäumer is the protagonist and the narrator of this book, All Quiet on the Western Front. He is a German soldier. He is a young man who thought that wars shouldn't be fought. He always care for other people. In the book, he tried to save everyone if they were wounded. He even shared some food to the prisoners that they captured(secretly).
There was a scene where he was hiding, and a soldier from the enemy's side jumped in. He killed him but he almost cried. He didn't want to kill him but he knew that he must or he will die. Paul wrote down his name and address and promised that he will send money anonymously to that address.
Overall, Paul is a nice person. He always think and care about others. He always think that war is bad, and he didn't understand what was the purpose of the war. He wished that there's no war but peace.
